Beer Description:

Named for Constance Markievicz, revolver wielding Irish stateswoman and revolutionary hero.  Dry and roasty, with an attractive coffee aroma, tan head, and silky-smooth mouthfeel.

About the Name:

The Irish Stout was released on St. Patrick’s Day 2018 and named after Constance Markievicz (born Feb. 4, 1868, London, England – died July 15, 1927, Dublin, Ireland).  This hardcore countess found her niche in political activism, standing up for her beliefs by refusing the seat as the first woman elected to the British Parliament, being arrested for a lifetime sentence (only to serve a year), serving in the first Dáil Éireann as the minister of labour, and lifelong philanthropist.  We honor Constance by naming our Irish Stout Markievicz on St. Patty’s Day, specifically because “in Dec. 1918, while still carrying out a prison sentence, Markievicz was elected to the House of Commons as the representative for Dublin’s St. Patrick’s division” and she was super rad!  Raise your glass to this revolutionary hero.
